Kahrs

Kahrs with Woodloc®
This mechanical glueless joint locks boards together with almost invisible joints. The rows of boards align themselves automatically, without the need for glueing. The Woodloc joint gives perfect results that withstand tough use and last throughout the floor's lifetime, the boards can be lifted at a later date and re-laid elsewhere.Your taste will naturally govern the choice of floor and species of wood. However, other factors should be considered.

Different species of wood vary naturally in hardness. A floor with all the variations that occur naturally in the wood (colour, knots and structure) creates a livelier atmosphere and is perceived as being more hard wearing. Any wear is more visible on light floors with a quiet structure.

All wood floors change naturally and their colours mature when they're exposed to light. The majority of species of wood fade in colour, however the species of wood which are already dark and red deepen in colour.

Lacquered surface treatments are available in silk matt, high gloss and deep lacquer (depending on the range chosen) and are all acrylate-based and UV cured. They do not contain solvents, formaldehyde or isocyante and are generally maintenance free in the first 10-20 years. The floor can then be sanded down and re-laquered.

Oiled treatment is a mixture of oil and wax which consists almost exclusively of renewable raw materials and again contains absolutely no solvents. Oiled floors require a little extra care. Once or twice a year you need to maintain the floor with wax, with heavier wear the floor will need more maintenance.

The life span of a wooden floor depends on where and how it's used, however the cleaning and maintenance methods and entrance provisions are just as important; if you guard against grit and dirt coming in, the floor will last longer.
